Buying a CS2 Skin: Wallet, Checkout, and Delivery, Step by Step

Buying a CS2 skin on PoshSkins isn't a single step — it's a short chain of them, starting with your wallet and ending with a Steam trade offer landing in your notifications. Knowing what happens at each stage makes the wait after checkout a lot less confusing, especially the first time.

Every item's price already includes the platform's 10% fee, explained on the fees page — the number on the marketplace grid is the number you pay for the item itself, before payment processing. You can pay directly at checkout with a card, or top up your wallet first and spend from that balance instead.

Topping up happens on the wallet page. Pick one of the preset amounts or set a custom figure with the slider — top-ups run from $5 to $10,000 per transaction, charged to your card in US dollars regardless of which currency you're viewing prices in. Funds land in your balance instantly once the payment clears; there's no waiting period on the deposit side.

One thing wallet funds don't currently do: come back out as a bank withdrawal. That feature is still listed as in development on the wallet page itself, so for now, a wallet balance is money you spend on items, not money you pull back out. Keep that in mind when deciding how much to add — top up close to what you actually plan to spend.

Checkout asks for two things beyond payment: your Steam Trade URL and an email address for order updates. If you haven't saved a Trade URL yet, do it before you start shopping — go to Settings, paste the URL from Steam's trade offer privacy page, and save it. Without one on file, there's no way for an order to reach you; PoshSkins simply can't build a trade offer for an account it doesn't have a destination for. With a Trade URL and email saved, checkout is short: confirm the item, choose wallet balance or direct card payment, agree to the terms, and pay. The total shown is the final total — item price, platform fee, and any payment processing fee are itemized before you confirm, with nothing added afterward.

Placing the order isn't the same as receiving the item. The confirmation screen lays out four things that still have to happen:

   You have to open Steam and accept that trade offer yourself; nothing arrives automatically

Some orders complete within minutes. Others take longer — PoshSkins tells you up front that delivery can take up to 8 days, which usually comes down to Steam's own trade protections on the seller's side rather than anything going wrong with your order. There's nothing to do during that window except wait and keep an eye on your Steam notifications; the order will show as pending in your purchase history the whole time.

Accepting the trade offer in Steam isn't quite the end of the story either. Once the item lands in your inventory, Steam holds it for a further 7 days (our trade hold explainer covers why) before you can trade or sell it again. You can equip and use it immediately — this hold only affects moving it onward, not playing with it. If you bought the skin to use, this changes nothing about your experience. If you bought it planning to resell quickly, budget for that week.

Every purchase shows up on the purchases page with its current status, and once an item lands in your Steam inventory the entry updates to show it as delivered, with a timestamp. Delivery estimates there come from the seller's past trades rather than a fixed promise, so if an item genuinely doesn't show up, PoshSkins sources it elsewhere or refunds you in full — the specifics are in the refund policy.

Prices can be shown in a currency other than US dollars, set from the currency selector in the header, so you can browse in the currency you think in. That display figure is a conversion for convenience — your card is still charged in US dollars underneath it, and checkout shows the converted amount alongside a note confirming the currency the charge actually happens in. If those two numbers look different, that's expected; it's not a sign anything is wrong with the order.

A failed card payment doesn't leave you out of pocket — failed charges are refunded automatically rather than sitting as a mystery deduction. Delivery works similarly: estimates come from the supplying seller's past trades and aren't a guarantee, so if an item genuinely doesn't arrive, PoshSkins either sources it elsewhere or refunds you in full, as set out in the refund policy. Either way, the purchases page and your order status are the places to check first, before assuming something has gone wrong.

None of these steps are unique to a first purchase — they're the same for every order — but they're easiest to get right when you know what's coming before you click pay.
